A simple salisbury steak is a delicious dish that is very simple to make.
It’s made from a mixture of ground pork, pumpkin, cheese and vegetables, with the meat marinated and cooked over a slow fire until it becomes soft and juicy.
It can be enjoyed with pumpkin, pumpkin bread or just plain bread.
This salisbury recipe makes a big batch of pumpkin bread which can be baked or left in the fridge for a later use.
Ingredients 1 pound ground pork 1 pound fresh pumpkin 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup olive oil 2 tablespoons minced garlic 1/4 cup shredded carrots 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/16 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/6 teaspoon ground allspice 1 teaspoon black pepper 1/3 cup shredded walnuts Directions Preheat oven to 400°F (180°C).
In a large bowl combine ground pork and pumpkin with a little salt and pepper.
Season with salt and black pepper, if necessary.
Season the pumpkin with more salt if needed.
Combine the ground pork with the remaining ingredients in a bowl and stir until the mixture is very smooth.
Add the walnuts and mix well.
Place the pumpkin mixture in a large baking dish and bake in the oven for about 25 minutes.
The salisbury will be done when the crust is golden brown and the meat is tender and juicy and not sticky.
Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely.
When the crust has cooled, remove the pan and let the meat cool completely before slicing.
If using a pizza stone, cut the meat into small pieces.
Serve the meat on top of the pumpkin slices and drizzle with olive oil and freshly ground pepper. Enjoy!
